Once, in dark times gone past, vampires, werewolves, and witches ruled from the shadows. Gifted with both intellect and their own natural weapons, they did not want for prey or power. But humans, with their ceaseless breeding, grew so numerous that the supernatural were forced to hide instead of openly hunt. They retreated, and for a time, lived under the veil of necessary secrecy. October 20th, 1909Dissatisfied with having to struggle for their rightful place at the top of the food chain, an idea began to be discussed between the leaders of the vampire and werewolf clans. If they could have their own land—a land where they could rule supreme and restore the natural hierarchy—they could finally live once more as they were rightfully meant to: as master and predator both of the fragile humans. Thus, Renegade Island was born. However, keeping such a thing secret from prying eyes would prove difficult for the skills of magicless monsters, and so the witches were brought in. With their powerful magic, they shroud the island, making it appear completely uninhabited to those who are not welcome. Present day, off the coast of FloridaFor generations now, many clans of vampires, witches, and werewolves have come together with the shared belief that normal humans (those with no magical ability) have two purposes: to be chattel and food, useful only for physical labor, sexual pleasure and sustenance. Humans, the clans believe, are not their equals—they are inferior, pitiful beings, mere tools to make their lives easier and to obey every and any of their Master’s whims willingly— or not. While of course being readily available for the superior creatures to inflict every sort of desire upon without consequence. And like any tool or food, they are simple trade goods, worth monetary value and no more than that. However, it is not just humans that are taken from the outside world; vampires and werewolves themselves occasionally get forced into the slave pens beneath the island, sold off as their human counterparts for some crime or offense. |
